SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WCBD) – A 16-year-old gymnast from South Carolina is making gymnastics history!
Zachary English is the first male gymnast in the Palmetto State to qualify for the U.S. National Championships.
The teen from Duncan won a silver medal in parallel bars at the Junior Olympic Nationals.
English says he is optimistic as he waits on a diagnosis for a new wrist injury.
“I want to be the very best I can possibly be, and I see all of the people that are really good at gymnastics and it motivates me to be better,” he said. “I want to be just like them.”
English was one of 22 male gymnasts in the country to qualify for the U.S. championships in August.
He plans to practice in Italy this July with the Italian Junior National Team.
