Bond conditions changed, former deputy charged in drowning deaths

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. - A judge has changed the bond conditions for a former South Carolina deputy, charged in the drowning deaths of two mental health patients during hurricane Florence.

Stephen Flood was driving the van carrying Nicolette Green and Wendy Newton when it was overwhelmed by flood water in September.

His trial for two counts of reckless homicide and two counts of involuntary manslaughter is looming, but Tuesday, a judge changed the conditions of his bond so he can get a job which requires him to "drive between North and South Carolina".

in a statement read by the solicitor, the family of one of the victims "had strong objections" about Flood being behind the wheel of any vehicle.
