Clemson students will launch rocket in nationwide aerospace competition

South Carolina News

CLEMSON, S.C. (WCBD) Some Clemson engineering students are gearing up to launch a rocket higher than Mount Everest!

They will travel to New Mexico this Saturday to compete in a nationwide aerospace competition.

The group hopes to launch their rocket to 30-feet and recover it to go over the data.

Clemson only offers two classes focusing on aerospace, so the students created their own classroom.

I could compare it to the football team, I mean they aren’t in it for the pay they are in it for each other to win to get that football to the end zone, Charles Dove, a senior engineering student at Clemson.

With each rocket, the students learn new skills and network with new companies.

The group hopes their club and projects stir up enough interest to eventually establish a major or minor in aerospace engineering.
