South Carolina News

BLUFFTON, S.C. (WSAV) – WSAV News 3 has learned that a child died after suffering severe injuries in an accident in the staging area after Saturday’s Bluffton Christmas Parade.

Ameer Frazier, 5, was in the Red Cedar Elementary School parking lot around 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. when the incident occurred. That was a drop off point for the floats and groups after the parade Saturday morning.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Ameer and to those who witnessed the accident. This is an accident that can only be described as tragic and unimaginable.”

Chief Chris Chapmond, Bluffton Police Department

Bluffton Police say they are investigating, but don’t expect any charges to be filed.

The Beaufort county School District will have additional counselors stationed at a number of Bluffton schools to assist students and staff.
