Gov. McMaster vetoes more than 20 items from next year’s budget

South Carolina News

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has vetoed more than two dozen items in next year’s budget.

They include money for sports marketing and local law enforcement grants.

Gov. McMaster said he feels there was not enough information about how that money would be used for 11 of the 28 items he vetoed.

Transparency, as you notice there are several things there, a lot of money, millions of dollars are going to someplace and it doesn’t say where it’s going to be used for or who is going to use it. We can’t continue doing that as a matter of routine, said Gov. McMaster.

Governor McMaster did approve raises for teachers and state employees as well as a refund check for taxpayers from the winning mega millions ticket sold in the upstate.
