Hunting safety bill would require hunters to take safety course

South Carolina News

With just 12 days until the start of the 2019 legislative session.

Lawmakers have filed a hunting safety bill ahead of the first day of session.

Here in South Carolina, anyone born after June 30th 1979 is required to take an educational course in order to be properly licensed to hunt.

Today a bill was prefilled to delete that age restriction requiring hunters of all ages to take the course.

The hunter education course is an 8-hour course that is offered for $24.50 by the Department of Natural Resources.

Outside of gun safety the course also focuses on how hunters should interact with wildlife.
