SPARTANBURG CO., SC (WSPA) – Deputies have arrested a man with several child sex crimes in Spartanburg County.

51-year-old Rembert Alan Brewer is charged with five counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of second-degree assault and battery.

According to the warrants, the crimes involved children under the age of 16 and occurred several times between 2008 and 2014 and in 2018.

The report said Brewer had regular and systematic sexual contact with juveniles under the age of 16 and one incident after the victim turned 16.

Rembert Brewer’s wife, Lisa Brewer, has also been charged with three counts of unlawful neglect of a child following incidents occurring between Sept. 7, 2006 and Sept. 7, 2011, as well as Dec. 1, 2013 and Jan. 9, 2014.

According to the report, Lisa Brewer failed to report the sexual abuse, failed to protect the children and reportedly coached the children in a manner that caused them to fear telling the truth about the incidents.

Rembert Brewer remains in the Spartanburg County Detention Center on $29,000 bond.

Lisa Brewer was also booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center, but has since been released.
