SC injured owl released back into the wild

South Carolina News

SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (WYFF/NBC) – An update to a young barred owl, rescued last week over a South Carolina river. That own is now back in the wild.

Hoskinson and crew have been taking care of the1 1/2lb, 2-year-old male barred owl for the last week since being found, trapped by fishing line, hanging over the Reedy River. Luckily, a kayaker spotted the owl and called for help.

On Wednesday, Mike Hoskinson of “Wild at Heart Wildlife Rehab” came back to the scene to release the Owl. After a toss into the air, his wings started flapping and the owl was off and into a tree on the other side of the river.

Hoskinson says owls mate for life, so their hope is that this guy will find his way back to his family.
