Representative Marvin Pendarvis from here in Charleston filed the Complete Streets bill which would require the Department of Transportation to implement safety measures on roads to make the streets complete for cars, pedestrians and cyclists.
The bill calls for improvements like bike lanes and sidewalks, something runners and cyclists say would make a big difference
More than 50 pedestrians have died on South Carolina roads so far this year. The bill is currently in a Public Works committee waiting for lawmakers to return in January
