BURNETTOWN, SC (WCBD) – An upstate man is celebrating after winning $250,000 playing the South Carolina Education Lottery.

In a press release Monday, lottery officials said the Burnettown man “didn’t shower, change clothes or sleep” after scratching the $10 instant ticket Emerald Green 10s the night before coming to Columbia to claim his $250,000 prize.

“My four children, which are cats, and I are going to enjoy this blessing,” he said in celebration. “Nothing fancy, all I’m going to do is get a new home with a reasonable price tag.”

The ticket was reportedly purchased from Valley Jack located at 3488 Augusta Road in Warrenville.

Lottery officials say there are five top prizes remaining in the Emerald Green 10s instant ticket, at odds of 1 in 660,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Valley Jack in Warrenville received a commission of $2,500.
