SC utility worker caught spraying dogs with pepper spray-like substance

South Carolina News

HORRY, SC (WCBD) – Customers in Horry County are outraged after video shows a Santee Cooper utility worker spraying dogs with pepper spray-like substances during a routine meter check.

Both of the dogs can be seen barking at the man and then suddenly stopping before running away from the fence.

The worker is seen on a different camera spraying something in the direction of the dogs.

Their owners say they suspected something and checked their surveillance cameras.

“I’m petting her and then I go and I rub my eyes and my eyes start to burn. I’m like, ‘something’s not right here.’ And Joe comes home and I say, ‘I wonder if he did something to them.,” said Hunter Tresnicky, owner of the dogs.

Santee Cooper has apologized to the customers for the incident.

It’s not clear if the employee who sprayed the dogs is still working for the company.
