Sidney and Tammy Moorer plan to file federal lawsuit

South Carolina News

COLUMBIA, SC (WCBD) – The couple serving prison time in connection to the 2013 disappearance of Heather Elvis now plan to file a lawsuit of their own.

A Columbia lawyer, Eric Poston of Chalmers Poston, LLC, said he plans to file a federal lawsuit on behalf of Sidney and Tammy Moorer.

That lawsuit will allege constitutional violations against agencies and officers involved in an investigation.

Tammy Moorer is currently serving a 30-year sentence for the kidnapping of Elvis.

She disappeared in December of 2013 from the Socastee area.

Tammy’s husband, Sidney Moorer is serving a 10-year sentence for obstructing justice in the case.

He will be re-tried on the kidnapping charge in Georgetown County after a jury deadlocked on the case.
