The Jasper County Coroner’s Office has identified the suspect as Jason Cribb, 36, Ridgeland. His cause of death is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

RIDGELAND, SC (WSAV) – A deputy with the Jasper Co. Sheriff’s Office was injured early Thursday morning when a suspect open fired on officers responding to a domestic dispute in Ridgeland, according to Sheriff Chris Malphrus.

It happened in the 1800 block of Bees Creek Road near Graham Hall.

JCSO responded to the call at 5:30 a.m., to find a male suspect had shot a female inside the home. He then opened fire on officers with a shotgun and rifle.

Ridgeland Police Dept. and SWAT assisted in entering the home, where officers found the man had shot and killed himself.

The deputy and female victim inside the home was airlifted to Memorial for treatment.

We’re told the deputy underwent surgery earlier today and is now recovering. No word on the condition of the other person at this time.
