Upstate dentist accused of prescribing drugs to people who weren’t his patients

GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – An Upstate dentist is accused of prescribing opiates and other drugs to people without seeing them as patients beforehand.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control said Dr. Glenn Head, of Eastside Pediatric Dentistry in Greenville, gave hydrocodone, diazepam and triazolam to more than 10 patients between May and December of last year.

Those patients reportedly did not have medical records justifying their need.

Head was charged with five counts of manufacturing and possession of a Schedule IV drug with intent to distribute, six counts of manufacture, deliver and possession of narcotic drugs in Schedule I and Schedule II and violation of drug distribution law.
