USC football player suspended indefinitely following arrest

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – Reserve defensive back Jamel Cook has been dismissed from the University of South Carolina football team.

Cook was arrested Friday on a charge of second-degree domestic violence.

He is accused of assaulting a woman during an argument that happened in Columbia.

During a call on Sunday, Head coach Will Muschamp announced Cook was off the team. He had originally been suspended.

Cook was released from jail on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
