The best smartphone apps for holiday shopping

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) — If you want to get the most bang for your buck this holiday season, you don’t need to run around town on Black Friday, but just check your smartphone. News 2 sat down with a tech expert to find out the top three apps to make sure you are keeping the most money in your pocket.

The first app is called Black Friday.FM and it has lists of all the deals going on for Black Friday, so you can stop sifting through the ads that clog up your mailbox and have them all in one place.

President and CEO of Netgalaxy Studios, Larry Collett, says, “So now you know exactly what everybody is offering, whether it’s their one hour deals, their early shopping deals. Whether it’s Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond, Kohl’s, you name it and it’s going to tell you exactly what the best deal is before they’ve even released the circulars.”

The next app that can help you out through the holidays is called Shop Savvy. All you need is the app and the product you want to buy.

Collett says, “You can scan the bar code and it will tell you the prices of all the products in the area so now you can be competitive shopping while you’re at the store too.”

And you may do some holiday shopping online. In that case, there is an extension you can download for Google Chrome called Honey, which can save some big bucks in cyber shopping.

Collett says, “So if you’re on Target or Amazon and you’re about to purchase something, the Honey extension will automatically pop up and tell you all of the different promo codes. It will just run through all these different promo codes and apply a discount for you, you don’t have to enter it in, it’s right there, you just run it.”

So you can stop cutting coupons and running from store to store this Black Friday. Getting deals just takes a couple minutes of research, a few apps on your smart phone, and you are set for everyone on your list. All of the apps listed above are available to download for free.
