Victims of home invasion found with large amount of narcotics, stolen items

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – While authorities investigate a home invasion in Berkeley County, two people were arrested for after a “large amount of narcotics” and several stolen items were discovered.

Timothy Dale Baker, 44, Goose Creek is charged with several drug charges including possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and receiving stolen goods. John Priest, 47, of Goose Creek is charged with possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony.

Investigators say on Tuesday, August 30 at about 4:13 a.m., deputies responded to a home on Elmora Avenue in reference to a home invasion.

During the investigation and execution of a search warrant, it was discovered that some of the victims of the home invasion were in possession of a large amount of narcotics and several items reported stolen during burglaries from Summerville and Goose Creek.

The items included a popup camper, a handgun and lawn care equipment. Numerous trailers were found on the property whose identification labels had been removed. Those trailers were collected for further investigation, according to a news release.

Baker and Priest were the original victims of the home invasion call. The bond hearing time has not been set for either at this time.

The investigation into the home invasion is ongoing. Detectives are working on locating the owners of the recovered trailers.
