NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – Presidential candidate and Vermont Senator, Bernie Sanders is hosting a campaign rally Thursday night in North Charleston.

This is Sen. Sanders first trip to the Lowcountry after announcing his campaign for president earlier this year.

Many 2020 presidential hopefuls have made South Carolina a priority for their campaign, and Sen. Sanders seems to be following suit.

Sanders announced his bid to run for president last month. This isn’t something Sanders is a stranger to. Many of us remember he ran for president back in 2016.

South Carolina is a state he lost during the 2016 democratic primary to Hilary Clinton by 47 points.

He’s looking to return to prove himself for this 2020 race.

Sanders has already started making his way through the state. He delivered a message to New Hampshire voters just a few days ago: “What I hope very much and I believe will happen, is that we understand that our job as candidate in debating the issues is not to tear each other down, but have a serious discussion about our views and what we would do as president, and also to understand that at the end of this primary contest, no matter who wins, we’re going to rally together and defeat Donald Trump.”

Senator Sanders’ rally begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Royal Family Life Center.
