CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Porter-Gaud is pleased to announce a new head coach for the varsity football team.

Coach Brad Bowles has been the head coach at Providence High School in Charlotte, NC since 2015.  He was named SoMeck7 conference coach of the year in 2017 and led the Panthers to a conference championship in 2018, according to the press release.

Officials stated that Coach Bowles was the head coach at St. John’s High School here in the Lowcountry, leading the Islanders to back-to-back region championships in 2013 and 2014.  He was an assistant at Goose Creek High School when the Gators won the AAAA state title in 2011.

“We’re thrilled to have Coach Bowles join the Cyclone community,” says PG Athletic Director Larry Salley.  “He has demonstrated the ability to build a successful program and a strong team culture everywhere he has been, and we look forward to him adding a new chapter to Porter-Gaud football’s long history of excellence.”
