Rainy start to HS football practices

July 27, 2018 - High school football practices officially started on Friday in the Lowcountry.

There was rain all around on Friday morning, but schools more to the north were able to get their practices in.

Fort Dorchester has been a powerhouse in the lowcountry for a while, and they are excited to continue on. Head coach Steve Laprad said that this group is one of the hardest working teams he's had.

Stratford has a new head coach, alumni Dennie McDaniel. Coach McDaniel is very happy to be back at his alma mater, and hopes to bring back some of the tradition that he remembers.

James Island was one of the teams hit hard by the storms on day 1. They were delayed hours because of lightening, but head coach Ike Allred likes what he sees on his team already from a leadership standpoint and is excited to get to work.

Practices continue for the next few weeks leading up to the Sertoma Classic starting on August 9.
