Everything you need to know about the I-26 lane reversal

CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – In anticipation of Hurricane Florence, Governor McMaster has mandated mandatory evacuations of several coastal counties and lane reversal of I-26.  

Tuesday morning authorities reversed the eastbound lanes on I-26 to travel westbound. Listed below are the exits ramps motorists can access on the reversed lanes between Charleston and Columbia.

187, Ridgeville

165, SC 210/Bowman

159, Homestead Road/ Bowman

149, SC 33/Orangeburg/ Cameron

139, Burke Road/ St. Matthews

136, SC 6 North/ St. Matthews/ Swanesa

129, US 21

125, Old Sandy Run Road/ Gatson.  

Several exits are available on the true westbound lane. If you come across an exit you are trying take that has barricades and cones, travel to the next open exit and take back roads to your destination.

Highway patrol asks that if a minor collision occurs between drivers on I-26 that those involved in the accident move to the side of the roadway.
