MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCBD) – Our next tropical system looks to bring impacts to the Lowcountry late this upcoming week.
As of the Saturday evening update, potential tropical cyclone fourteen was tracking north toward the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. The area of low pressure is expected to become a depression by Sunday and then Tropical Storm Michael by Monday.
The potential storm is expected to track north through the Gulf o Mexico during the early part of the week, near the Florida panhandle, Alabama and Mississippi on Wednesday. The current track takes the weakening storm into the Southeast US on Thursday.
Our exact impacts are highly dependent on where the center of the storm tracks. However, it looks as though Wednesday and Thursday we can expect heavy downpours and the possibility of gusty winds. Exactly how much rain we see, becomes clearer as the storm gets closer to the US.
